Community Theatre

Arena Arts & Entertainment Inc has produced a lot of Arts Projects since 1988. It would take a lot of space on this website to feature them all. Instead of being slaves to our history and describing every single one of them, we are only showcasing our most recent works in the field of Community Theatre. We hope to add the details of more productions both here and in our Theatre For Schools section in the near future. Stay tuned!

To see what's coming up, have a look at our Coming Soon  page!

TO CHECK OUT THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTIONS, CLICK ON THEIR TITLE TO FIND OPTIONS ON THE SIDEBAR MENU SUCH AS CAST, CREW, REVIEWS AND PHOTOS.

  • Going Postal (February 2008)

Arena's 5th Terry Pratchett production. Moist von Lipwig was a con artist, a fraud and a man faced with a life choice: be hanged or put Ankh-Morpork's ailing postal service back on its feet.  It was a tough decision.  With the help of a golem who has been at the bottom of a hole in the ground for over two hundred years, a pin fanatic and an aging Junior Postman, he's got to see that the mail gets through.  In taking on the evil chairman of the Grand Trunk Semaphore Company and a midnight killer, he's also got to stay alive.  Getting a date with Adora Belle Dearheart would be nice, too.  In the mad world of the mail, can a criminal succeed where honest men have failed and died?  Perhaps there's a shot at redemption for a man who's prepared to push the envelope ...

  • 2007 One-Act Season (September 2007)

Our entries into the 2007 ITA Dramafest were "The Bear" by Anton Chekhov, directed by Simon James, and "Gary's Place" by Ellen Jurik and Dominica Malcolm, directed by Jeremy Malcolm.

  • 2006 One-Act Season (September 2006)

Our entries into the 2006 ITA Dramafest were "Ruffian on the Stair" by Joe Orton, directed by Simon James, and "Narcissus" by Ellen Jurik, directed by Ellen Jurik.

  • Santa's Space Christmas (December 2005)

A traditional-style Christmas pantomime, "Santa's Space Christmas" by Simon James, was performed at the Don Russell Performing Arts Center, Thornlie in December 2005. Directed by Simon James.

  • The Merry Wives of Windsor (September 2005)

William Shakespeare's comedy, "The Merry Wives of Windsor", was performed at the Sun Room Theatre in September 2005. Directed by Joanne Williams.

  • Funtastic! (February 2005)

A Night of a very odd assortment of Variety Acts and Scenes from Terry Pratchett's Discworld writings.

  • Monstrous Regiment (July 2004)

By special arrangement with Methuen Publishing (before the playtext is published later this year), we are very fortunate in being able to present only the second ever production of this show in the whole wide world! A comedic adventure of a young woman who pretends to be a man so that she can join the army and find her brother who has been sent to the front lines. The troop of last recruits she enlists with is indeed a motley crew - a vampire, a troll, a hunchback, and some rather strange humans - all with secrets more bizarre than her own.

  • Temporo (April 2004)

The world premiere of this locally-written play: a futuristic tale of corporate intrigue, in which the boundaries of science are pushed beyond the fantastic and towards the sinister.

  • Carpe Jugulum (July 2003)

Our third Pratchett presentation, in which Lancre's favourite witches do battle with a family of new-age Vampyres intent on taking over the peaceful village of Lancre.

  • Doctor Who : Hellblossom (November 2002)

An original stage production featuring everyone's favourite Time Lord. First produced by Britain's Battered Suitcase Theatre.

  • Lords and Ladies (July 2002)

Adapted from the novel of the same name by comic fantasy writer Terry Pratchett. Discworld is invaded by elves and the Witches of Lancre battle to defeat their evil plans of conquest!

  • Wyrd Sisters (April 2001)

Our first foray into the stage adaptations of the Discworld novels of Terry Pratchett. The kingdom of Lancre is under the influence of an evil Duke and Dutchess, bent on re-writing history through theatre. The witches attempt to right the situation without obvious interfering.
